Old Man Markley found its humble beginnings in the sun-soaked
San Fernando Valley, when members of several Los Angeles punk
bands got their hands on acoustic instruments at a party and struck
up a few bluegrass-inspired jams. A special sound was born that
night, that was at once traditionally American and uniquely punk
rock. OMM began honing that sound, and within a few months was
garnering support from sold-out LA crowds. Since signing with San
Francisco's Fat Wreck Chords in 2010, OMM has won love the
Western world over, with tours all over the Unites States, across
Canada, and throughout Europe.
Banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, autoharp, washtub bass, drums, and
washboard complete the roll call of instruments, and stellar harmonies
help Old Man Markley stand out even further. Those sixty
four strings and four voices straddle genres, and Old Man Markley's
fresh sound and infectious energy has swept hearts, tickled ears, and
earned smiles from the neon lights of Hollywood to the wind-swept
plains of the midwest to dark basement clubs in Brooklyn to under
the sun and stars at punk festivals of thousands across the world.
In Fall 2010, OMM toured to support their first Fat release, the 7"
single "For Better, For Worse," and in early 2011, OMM released
and toured in support of their full length album on Fat, "Guts 'n
Teeth." Summer 2011 will see the release of their second 7", "Party
Shack," and their fourth tour with legendary labelmates NOFX.
